Winner of Best Female Artist at the 2026 Waiata Māori Music Awards, Rā Charmian (Ngāpuhi, Tainui) is a singer-songwriter based in Titirangi, Tāmaki Makaurau. 

Blending pop, soul and reggae influences, her music brings together te reo Māori and English in waiata that celebrate identity, connection and belonging.

Working alongside guitarist and producer Hayden Booth, Rā’s releases include the album Waiata Wairua and the 2026 singles Kia Pūāwai and Matariki e ara. Kia Pūāwai reached #15 on the Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart and peaked at #3 on the Te Reo Māori radio airplay chart.

With almost a decade of international performance experience, Rā brings warmth, soulful vocals and an engaging stage presence to her live shows. Her performances at events including the TSB Festival of Lights and Music in Parks showcase original songs, Māori waiata and fresh interpretations of familiar favourites.
